The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance, Confession or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is held every Saturday, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or by appointment by calling the pastor at 513-688-3144 to reach his direct and confidential line.
Our lives need as much healing, if not more, than our bodies. The Church offers ongoing renewal and restoration for the times that we sin, or “miss the mark” in our lives. If you are not in the habit of doing a daily “review of life,” I want to encourage you to end each day by examining your conscience. This is a good practice, weigh how our words and actions have affected others throughout the day, and so our relationship with God. Thinking about our day is also a good preparation for celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation, not as a punishment, but as a celebration of God’s forgiving grace in our lives. You might consider:
The Sacrament of Reconciliation, or Penance, is celebrated each Saturday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel (on the left as you enter the Narthex) This is an opportunity to sit with Fr. Del Staigers, Fr. Alex, or Fr. Pat Crone to celebrate the sacrament. If your major fear is that you don’t remember what to do, just tell us that. We will help you.
Most importantly, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, from Vatican Council II, states that celebration of the Eucharist, is the primary Sacrament of Reconciliation (#17), which is why we celebrate the Mass with such frequency. Together, may we celebrate Christ’s healing in our lives.
