The Tuesday Evening Bible Study will begin January 31st. It will meet 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the Our lady of Mt. Carmel room of the Parish Ministry Center. The group will be studying the Book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah, often referred to as the prophet of the broken heart, lived prior to and during the downfall of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile of the Israelites. As the book is read, you’ll be surprised at the similarities of Jeremiah’s times and what we are experiencing today—possible annihilation through war; injustice, poverty and marginalization; politicians who have basically written God out of our public lives; increase in promiscuity in public life; physical and sexual abuse of women, children and the elderly; as well as racism, sexism, genocide; and, dissension within and among the religions of the world. All this demonstrates that the Bible has great relevance today, noting as Jeremiah's prophecies did, that if one turns back to God, there is a reason to hope in an unstable world.
